March was when concert life really got back into gear since 2020. Seemingly less cancellations happening around this time, so more shows were a go. Brian "Head" Welch of KORN in the above photo accurately sums up my feelings about this.
The month kicked off with a concert reunion of one of my favorite people, Brian Fallon. The last time I saw him in concert was the Summer of 2019, which is just ridiculous. He came through to play the gorgeous Capitol Theatre in Port Chester. I’m so happy anytime an artist I like is scheduled to play there. Besides having an excuse to go back to the lovely venue, I was really happy that Brian’s vocals were the best I’ve heard him, especially on the beautiful “Etta James.”
The rest of the month was filled with some more classic favorites of mine: KORN, Alice Cooper, Papa Roach, Henry Rollins, and Kix. All were wonderful of course. Kix was a bittersweet evening as I was psyched to see them not only play a headliner show for the first time, but for free at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den. However when I got home, I saw the devastating news that we lost Taylor Hawkins. I spent the rest of the night in a sad haze, as many people did. Still difficult to process, and probably always will be.
